The idea to create a device for picking up dog poop was suggested to me by my friend. He has experience of owning several dogs and of course he walks them every day. Spending time with favorite pets is interrupted every time when they leave waste. To remove waste from the lawn, my friend must bend down, and with a plastic bag put on his hand, has to make contact with this unpleasant smelling sticky and slippery "substance". He assures me that even with careful use of the sealed bag, the smell of waste was still transmitted to his hands. In addition, he is worried about the ecology, pollution of the environment with disposable plastic bags. A convenient device was needed to solve this double "delicate" problem. And finally, I am pleased to present to your attention the DOCLawn device for picking up dog waste
DOCLawn – dog operation “clean lawn”
The principle of its operation is very simple, and the whole procedure takes about 40 seconds. Just two clicks on the button and no more bending down to pick up waste. A replaceable cardboard cartridge is inserted into the DOCLawn by lightly pressing the hand or simply by pressing the DOCLawn on the cartridge located on the surface of the lawn. All you need to do is to lower the DOCLawn with the cartridge directly on the waste and press the button once. The cartridge will begin to rotate, and due to the low special shape the waste will begin to move from the surface of the lawn directly into the cartridge. To improve the efficiency of waste collecting it is necessary to raise and lower alternately the working DOCLawn on the dog waste. The rotation of the cartridge is stopped by pressing the button again. After collecting the waste, you can continue your walk while holding DOCLawn in your hand. When approaching the waste collection point, you must press the button twice, a special internal mechanism will stop holding the cartridge, and it will fall into the trash can by itself. The waste is removed, and the hands of the person and the cleaning device itself remain clean

These cartridges are biodegradable with waste and can be recycled to reduce the amount of plastic used by humans and improve the environment

How will I receive the device?
The device is delivered in a cardboard box ready-made with two separately located elements: the DOCLawn body and the removed handle. You can use DOCLawn by removing or attaching the handle, no additional assembly is required. After receiving DOCLawn, you will need to install two 18650 batteries, each with a capacity of at least 2200 mA. Batteries are not included in the package. This decision was made in order to avoid unnecessary problems with the postal delivery of DOCLawn, since different transport companies have their own safety standards and special restrictions apply to the shipment of batteries.

How many buttons are there on the device and in what mode do they work?
DOCLawn has two control buttons. One on the body itself for working in the version of a short umbrella, the second on the handle of the handle in the version of a long cane. Both buttons are equivalent, duplicate and can function independently of each other. Pressing any button once starts or stops rotation of the replacement cartridge. Pressing the button twice releases the replacement cartridge. Long press of the button turns the flashlight on or off.

What material is the device made of?
DOCLawn is made of polyamide, it is a durable plastic that is more than 2 times stronger than conventional plastic and is more resistant to deterioration, shocks, temperature extremes and aggressive factors.

The cartridge has a diameter of about 0.32″ (82 mm) and a height of about 0,3″ (74 mm), its weight is about 0,077 lbs (35 grams).

What sizes of dogs can the device be used for?
DOCLawn is suitable for collecting dog waste regardless of the size of the dogs. The capacity limit is limited by the volume of the cartridge. It is possible to use one cartridge for sequential simultaneous collection of waste for several dogs. As practical tests have shown one cartridge holds the waste of two or three medium-sized dogs 20-27″ (50-70 cm) high per one walk.

Can I keep a used replacement waste cartridge for a long time?
The device is designed in such a way that you can throw the replacement cartridge along with the collected waste into the nearest trash can while walking the dog immediately after use.

Will the device be clean after use?
Once applied, DOCLawn will stay clean. The height of the replacement cartridge is greater than the average height of the waste above the surface. The side walls of the device may get a little dirty when used in very tall grass. If necessary, you can use a cleaning pad to clean the DOCLawn.

What surfaces can I use the device on?
DOCLawn is designed to operate on mowed lawns, however it will perform its task on tall grass, snow, asphalt, sidewalk and sand. In this case, it may be necessary to increase the duration of using the device in the mode of rotation of the cartridge. The main condition of performance is the absence of disorder in the dog. DOCLawn will not be able to collect liquid waste well if the dog has soft stool. There are also no restrictions on the use of DOCLawn indoors.

How many replacement cartridges are there in the box, and what is the size?
The box 10x10x20″ (0.25x0.24x0.58 meters) holds 63 cartridges, that provides a stock of just over one month with cleaning up of dog waste twice per day. The box weighs approximately 7.7 lbs or 3.5 kg.

Why is there a different number of cartridges in the same size boxes, 50 or 63?
In order to reduce the delivery cost, it is more advantageous to send DOCLawn inside the box with cartridges and case rather than in a separate parcel. It takes up a certain volume, which is 13 cartridges.

Is the device waterproof?
The use of DOCLawn does not imply submersion of the entire device in water, however, rain, snow or splashing water will not harm it or damage electronic components due to the special design of the case. There are also no restrictions on the use of DOCLawn in the rain, only the replacement cartridge will need to be protected from long-term exposure to water, because it will lose its rigidity.

How easily can it break down?
Unlikely. The device is designed with a margin of safety in both the case and the electronics. Controlling and using DOCLawn is so simple and straightforward that even a child can handle it. The electrical circuit contains automatic protection of the electric motor against overloads, as well as protection of batteries against improper charging.

Can the device shock me?
No, it can’t. The largest voltage inside the DOCLawn is 12 V. The only electronic element that a person will need to touch directly is a control button with an operating voltage of 3.3 V. The rest of the electronics are inside the case.

How often do I need to recharge the batteries?
This parameter depends on the duration of the flashlight use and the rotation time of the DOCLawn motors. Tests have shown that when using the device in normal mode twice a day, recharging will be required once every 3-4 weeks. The batteries are recharged via a conventional telephone charger (110-220V) of the USB Type-C standard (not included in the delivery set). To recharge, you will need to remove the cover or handle. The battery charge status signaling is realized by means of the control button illumination as follows: short blinking - it is necessary to recharge the battery; long blinking - the charging is in progress; constant lit and extinguished backlight - the battery is charged.

DOCLawn can be used in all seasons. With prolonged exposure to cold, a slight decrease in the capacity of the batteries is possible, which will entail more frequent recharging.

Due to its position on the lower circumference of the DOCLawn, the flashlight illuminates the cleaning area very well. There is enough lighting to illuminate a large area. The electronic circuit is designed so that the luminescence intensity does not depend on the state of charge of the batteries. The flashlight will always shine the same.
